A UK-based insurance broker has today revealed a significant new deal.
George Burrows, a police and fire service insurance specialist, has won a competitive tender with the British Transport Police Federation (BTPF) – securing a three-year exclusive partnership. The deal will see the broker provide a suite of personal insurance covers to the BTPF’s members.
The British Transport Police, of course, is dedicated to protecting the railway and light-rail systems across England, Scotland and Wales. It boasts more than 3,000 serving police officers and now George Burrows will attempt to use its 50 years of experience to provide quality personal protection insurance to its serving and retired police officers.
Speaking in a release, Rob Constable, managing director of George Burrows, outlined that its programme will include: life insurance without exclusions; legal expenses benefits; and accident/sickness/counselling expenses.

“We are honoured and proud to be working with the British Transport Police Federation to support its members,” he said. “Our specialist team has created a group programme that provides wide-ranging personal insurance covers and services that duly recognise and take account of the myriad risks that officers face in their line of work.”
“Police officers face dangerous and challenging situations on a daily basis, so we wanted to be sure our Group Insurance Scheme provided the best possible cover,” added Darren Townsend, general secretary of the British Transport Police Federation. “George Burrows offers significantly more cover, in a wider range of circumstances, than we have had before and offers our members peace of mind, especially if they are injured – or worse. Additions such as gadget insurance and breakdown cover mean the scheme is great value for money.
“The support we have had to establish the scheme, including training for our staff, has been tailored to our needs and we know the George Burrows team is on the end of the phone if we need them.”
