A body has been found just days after an insurance worker went missing near the River Bann.
Portstewart man, John Thompson, 56, a father-of-two, went missing around midday on Saturday. Now
The Belfast Telegraph is reporting that a body has been discovered close to where he was last seen although police have not yet confirmed whether it is Mr Thompson or not. A formal identification and post-mortem is due to take place and the death is not being treated as suspicious.
Mr Thompson worked at Hughes Insurance, a Northern Ireland company that has been in business for close to 40 years. According to
The Belfast Telegraph, co-workers described him as “a lovely guy” and noted they were “gutted” by his disappearance.
Thompson is also well-known throughout his community for his musical talents, according to the report. He played at many care homes and had good relations with the residents.
It is believed that Mr Thompson had a bicycle with him when he went missing and was described as being 5ft 10ins tall, with dark brown hair and when last seen he was wearing blue three-quarter length shorts and a red raincoat.
