International reinsurance, wholesale and specialty broker, Ed, has this morning announced the appointment of a new head of its international property and casualty division.
Namik Gulsun will take on the role, working alongside James Venton, currently head of U.S. property and casualty, the firm said in a release.
Gulsun, who brings with him almost two decades of experience in the insurance industry, will take up his role with immediate effect reporting into Ed’s CEO of specialty, Chris Bonard.
Joining Ed from Willis Towers Watson, Gulsun’s most recent role was as an executive director, where he served as head of Central & Eastern Europe including Turkey & CIS, in the D&F Europe team, under the P&C Division.
“Namik is an excellent addition to our senior team and will play a key part in our international growth,” Bonard commented.
“Recognising that individual markets require individual expertise and understanding is a key part of our strategy and central to the differentiation of Ed’s offering. Namik brings proven expertise, a track record of putting client’s interests first and in-depth knowledge of some of our key growth markets,” he added.
Gulsun, who began his broking career in 2003 at Aon Benfield, is the latest in a series of appointments at Ed which Bonard said, “emphasise the calibre of people who, along with our existing team of specialists, will quickly separate us from our peers.”
Speaking of his new role, Gulsun added: “Over the past year Ed has become viewed as a modernising and disruptive force in the broking sector.
“I am delighted to be joining a business where there is a clear ambition and strategy to do things differently and the scope to make a genuine difference to both the company and perhaps our industry as a whole.”
