Global reinsurance, wholesale and specialty group Ed continues to make leadership changes following its rebranding last year with the recruitment of Andy Wakefield from rival firm Willis Re.
Wakefield will take up the role of managing director of marine and energy reinsurance later this year. He will report to Ed’s reinsurance CEO Kieran Angelini-Hurll.

Angelini-Hurll said Wakefield is the “ideal candidate” to spearhead the growth of Ed’s marine and energy reinsurance offering.
“This market is primed for a reinsurance broker with global reach which does not compete with its clients. The opportunities for significant and rapid expansion in this sector are clear,” said Angelini-Hurll.
“[Wakefield] will ensure that our proposition sets itself apart and that we attract the right talent to complement our existing expertise. I am very pleased to welcome him to the team,” he added.
Wakefield brings more than 25 years of experience in the marine and energy sector to Ed. He joins from Willis Re where he served most recently as an executive director.
In his most recent role, Wakefield focused on European and London market business. Before that, he served as a senior broker at Aon Benfield.
Wakefield is among the newest senior executives to join Ed this year. Last week, the brokerage giant announced the appointment of Neil Perry as the next CFO. In late January, the company also named Gary Corke as CEO of underwriting.
