It has been quite the period of transition for global reinsurance, wholesale and specialty group Ed, following its rebranding last year. Now the company is looking to build on its momentum with a key appointment.
The firm has today announced that Gary Corke will take the role of CEO of underwriting and be responsible for managing the company’s MGAs around the globe while developing its MGA business unit.
Set to take up the role in February, Corke boasts 36 years of experience having worked as far afield as Africa where he was CEO of the largest casualty MGA on the continent SHA Specialist Underwriters. In addition he previously co-founded Emerald Underwriting Managers and held the CEO position for 14 years.

“MGAs are an essential part of Ed’s future and a key pillar in our growth strategy,” commented Andrew Wallin, group commercial director of Ed. “We have exceptional MGA businesses in some of our core markets. We will grow and develop an integrated global MGA business unit which will allow us to better deploy the expertise and experience across our underwriting businesses.
“To realise these ambitions and ensure that our MGA business remains distinct from our wholesale broking we recognise that we need a high calibre individual who has a track record of building and managing leading MGA businesses. Gary is the ideal candidate.”
