There have been a series of significant moves between major insurers lately – such as
Sompo Canopius snapping up a leader from XL Catlin, and a
director making the switch from Aviva to LV=. However, this major appointment has been made in-house – albeit with a man who has significant experience with other firms.
Ecclesiastical has named a new head of broker distribution for its UK general insurance business in the form of Chris Withers.
Withers joined the company in 2015 and had, until recently, held the position of real estate development manager. However, he has nearly 25 years’ of wide-ranging insurance industry experience, having worked at
Covea for seven years prior to joining Ecclesiastical and at
RSA for 17 years before that. In his new role he will manage the Ecclesiastical UK general insurance sales team, be responsible for developing the company’s proposition for its broker partners, and for building even stronger relationships with brokers who operate in the company’s specialist areas.
Commenting on the appointment, Ecclesiastical’s Commercial Director Adrian Saunders, said: “We are at an exciting stage in the development of our intermediary business.
“We have been working extremely hard over the last few years to build an even better understanding of our broker and distribution partners’ needs, and making sure that we tailor our delivery across a wide range of areas from niche proposition to underwriter access through to marketing support. I am pleased that Chris has accepted the challenge of ensuring our enhanced offering to brokers is consistent across both our Ecclesiastical and Ansvar brands and I’m confident he will build on the exciting plans we have in place for working even more closely with all our broker partners.
“In addition to the new responsibilities in his role as head of broker distribution, Chris will continue to manage the regional development of our real estate business and further build our presence in that market.”
