Direct Line Insurance Group has strengthened its board of directors with the addition of two senior industry executives including Mike Holliday-Williams.
Holliday-Williams takes the role of executive director after joining Direct Line in 2014 as managing director of the personal lines business.
Direct Line Group chairman Mike Biggs said Holliday-Williams’ appointment “reflects the importance to the group of the personal lines business, which has strengthened significantly under his leadership.”
Holliday-Williams previously served as chief executive of
RSA’s Scandinavian business. He was also a managing director of More Th>n and held various senior management positions in businesses owned by British utility company Centrica.
“Direct Line Group’s mission is to make insurance much easier and better value for its customers,” Holliday-Williams said. “And I look forward to continuing to develop our excellent brands in achieving that mission and positioning them to deliver strong results in a changing market.”

Direct Line has also appointed a new non-executive director in the person of Danuta Gray, who also serves in the same role at insurer Old Mutual and as non-executive member of the Defence Board of the UK Ministry of Defence.
“Danuta brings vast experience of business leadership in both executive and non-executive roles in a number of sectors, including in financial services,” Biggs said.
Both appointments will take effect from February 1.
