Global reinsurance, wholesale and specialty broker Cooper Gay has announced a new CEO of its reinsurance division – after securing a top talent from a rival firm.
Kieran Angelini-Hurll will take the position of CEO of the company’s reinsurance division as of September 01 and will report directly to Steve Hearn, who is the group’s CEO.
Angelini-Hurll boasts more than two decades of experience within the industry and joins the company from Miller Insurance Services, a broker which operates across all international insurance markets and at Lloyd’s. At Miller, Angelini-Hurll was the head of sales and business development and previously the global head of non-marine reinsurance. In addition he has also spent more than 20 years at Willis Re.
Speaking about the appointment, Steve Hearn remarked on the importance of the division in general.
“Reinsurance represents a key pillar in our growth strategy,” he said.
“We will redefine our proposition in this sector through a combination of technological and practice evolution and by recruiting the market’s leading talent to complement our existing expertise. Kieran’s appointment represents a key stage in this process. He is a highly respected industry figure, who has built his reputation on innovation and emerging market expertise and I am certain that under his guidance our reinsurance offering will quickly be seen as a genuine challenger in the market.”
Meanwhile, Angelini-Hurll believes there are many opportunities in the marketplace.
“There is an obvious gap in the market for a reinsurance proposition which makes use of all of the tools now available in our industry to provide clients with a modern, tailored service,” he said. “I am delighted to be joining Cooper Gay to help make their aspirations for the reinsurance division a reality.”
