Two senior marine and energy executives from the Jardine Lloyd Thompson (
JLT) Group have joined specialist reinsurance broker Capsicum Re.
Capsicum Re has appointed Alistair Lockhart-Smith and Jerry Reeves as managing partner and partner respectively of its marine and energy specialty business, effective immediately.
The two new hires are joining Capsicum Re at a “great time” when the business is progressing well and is gaining market share, according to company CEO Rupert Swallow.
“We are building momentum and there are lots of opportunities for them to utilise their expertise and experience to develop our reputation in the marine & energy market,” he said.
Lockhart-Smith said his team will grow a market leading marine and energy offering at Capsicum Re where Swallow and founding partner Grahame Chilton are building a “dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.”
“We are in a challenging market and there has never been a greater need to deliver innovative products that respond to what customers need,” he said.
“Advocating customer’s requirements is at the heart of Capsicum Re and this focus on relationships is what sets them apart from their peers.”
Before moving to Capsicum Re, Lockhart-Smith previously served as deputy chairman of global business and managing director at JLT Re. He joined JLT Risk Solutions in 2000 as head of marine and energy reinsurance division.
In 1992, he founded Bradstock Lockhart-Smith, an energy reinsurance broker, before selling it in 1996 upon which he became deputy chairman of Bradstock Blunt and Crawley.
Reeves recently served as head of the UK facultative division at JLT and as head of marine and energy international at the JLT Re executive committee.
In 1986, he became one of the founding members of Bradstock, Byrne & Partners, which turned into a marine and energy reinsurance division in 1990 that was sold to JLT in 2000.
