A London executive at Bank of America Merrill Lynch has joined Lloyd’s insurer
Beazley as international manager of breach response services.
In his new role, Rafael Sanchez will manage the response services for the insurer’s rapidly growing international cyber data breach insurance business.
Sanchez joins from Merrill Lynch, where he was assistant general counsel and director for the bank’s UK business.
He previously held senior legal positions at Morgan Stanley in London and Hong Kong, where he also worked for Jardine Matheson.
Sanchez will now have a leadership role in the Beazley Breach Response (BBR) services team, which coordinates the expert forensic, legal, notification and credit monitoring services that clients need to satisfy all legal requirements and maintain customer confidence.
The BBR team also maintains and develops Beazley’s suite of risk management services, designed to minimize the risk of a data breach occurring.
Beazley said it has helped clients handle over 4,000 breaches since the launch of BBR, a flagship product, in 2009.
"We’re excited to expand the reach of Beazley’s dedicated BBR Services unit to more international businesses as they adapt to new EU regulations, and other breach notification regulations being enacted around the world,” said Katherine Keefe, global head of BBR Services.
