Insurance powerhouse
Aviva has announced a reshuffle of its senior management team in the UK as it combines the general insurance, health and life businesses under the leadership of chief executive Andy Briggs.
The company said it is bringing together the key business divisions to accelerate its growth strategy, which will be more centred on the changing ways that customers choose to buy products with a focus on digital.
“The management team we have announced today has the right experience and ambition and, with the benefits of our investment in digital,” he added.
Effective from the second quarter of 2017, Aviva’s UK insurance senior management will include the following executives:
- Colm Holmes will head the global corporate and specialty risk unit while continuing to lead the general insurance business
- Rob Townend will keep his post as claims director for UKGI, reporting to Holmes
- Lindsey Rix will lead savings and retirement, covering the platform business, annuities, and equity release
- David Still will run the heritage business focusing on customers who have older life products which are now closed to new business
- Mark Noble, current managing director of the UK health unit, will lead the health and protection business
As part of the changes, savings and retirement business managing director Clive Bolton has decided to leave the company after 25 years of service.
Aviva has also announced the following appointments relating to key customer segments:
- Andy Curran, corporate business solutions managing director, will lead the corporate team
- Rob Barker will continue to head strategic partners, a role that includes customer propositions and pricing.
- Phil Bayles, chief distribution officer for UKGI, will continue to lead on intermediaries that focus primarily on general insurance.
- Blair Turnbull, UK digital managing director, will collaborate with UK insurance to lead on Aviva’s retail direct-to-consumer segment
