Aviva brand communications and marketing director Pete Markey has reportedly left the insurance giant after just over a year of service.

Markey joined retail and commercial bank TSB this month as the new marketing director, according to leading marketing news websites.

“Following changes to Aviva’s UK marketing team, Pete Markey left Aviva at the end of April to pursue new opportunities,” a spokeswoman for the insurer told Marketing Week.

“Pete has made a valuable contribution to our marketing and brand performance over the past year and we would like to thank him for all of his work since joining the business and wish him well in his future endeavours,” the spokeswoman added.

Markey joined Aviva in 2016 and led the management of Aviva's multimillion pound brand and a team of over 150 people across four locations. He was responsible for the insurer’s “Good Thinking” campaign and was the co-founder of Aviva Pride, the company’s LGBT network.

During his time at Aviva, Markey bagged several awards and was included in Campaign Magazine’s “Hall of Fame” of 100 marketing leaders.

From 2011 to 2016, Markey served as the chief marketing officer of RSA and the Post Office. Before that, he was marketing boss at More Th>n for over five years.
