There was plenty of news coming out of
Aviva’s results (which we
reported on earlier today) – but perhaps none were as eye-catching as two major deals that the UK insurance giant has struck.
The first is a 10-year partnership agreement with HSBC. The deal is a distribution agreement and one of the largest bancassurance deals in the UK with HSBC customers able to pick up home insurance and travel insurance from Aviva via the bank’s online and mobile channels, as well as in branches and over the phone.
The deal builds on a previous five-year arrangement between the two companies.
“I am tremendously pleased to be announcing this new partnership with HSBC to provide customers with a wide range of general insurance products, delivered in ways which are simple and convenient for customers,” said UK CEO Andy Briggs.
“This agreement – one of the largest ever in UK insurance – underlines Aviva’s offering and growth potential in the UK.”
In addition, the company has extended its title sponsorship of the rugby union Premiership, known as the Aviva Premiership. The extension runs to the end of the 2017-18 season and marks Aviva’s eighth season as the competition’s partner.
“After a thrilling end to last season and a great summer of rugby, we’re incredibly excited to be extending our partnership with Premiership Rugby until the end of the 2017-18 season”, said Aviva’s Tom Daniell, Retail Marketing Director. “The extension gives us the opportunity to continue working with Premiership Rugby and the 12 clubs on our community initiatives, notably the Aviva Tackling Numbers programme and the Aviva Community Fund, both of which make such a valuable difference to communities and families across the country.”
