Seasoned insurance executive Kevin Cleary has joined
Ascent Underwriting as its new chief operations officer, the cyber-specialist managing general agent has announced.
In addition to his new role, Cleary will also lead the development and growth of an international financial lines portfolio.
Ascent said Cleary’s role is part of a strategy to build on the company’s strong cyber business by diversifying into complementary lines utilising proven product innovation and efficient online underwriting platform.
Company CEO David Umbers said Cleary’s recruitment is “very exciting for Ascent and marks an important time in the development of our business.”
“Kevin brings us a wealth of expertise across management and financial lines enabling us to diversify our portfolio, widen our geographical footprint and reflects our focus on the increasingly important compliance aspect of the business,” Umbers said.
Cleary joins Ascent from The Navigators Group where he was head of international delegated underwriting.
He also served as class underwriter at The Channel Syndicate and vice president for SME professional lines at
Allied World Assurance.
Cleary was UK development manager at Dual Corporate Risks and development underwriter at
Chubb during the earlier part of his career.
