Lloyd’s insurer ArgoGlobal has appointed
Canopius executive Luke Birtwistle as casualty treaty underwriter.
Birtwistle assumes his new post immediately, reporting to casualty treaty class underwriter Stuart Dale.
Since 2013, Birtwistle has been serving as assistant underwriter, international casualty treaty reinsurance, at the Canopius Group.
In that role, he worked on the London market and international businesses across a range of classes, including professional and environmental liability, workers’ compensation, professional indemnity, directors and officers liability, financial institutions, medical malpractice, motor and retrocession.
Birtwistle started his career in financial services as an equity research analyst at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods.
“Luke is a talented underwriter who has already displayed a level of technical and commercial acumen beyond his years,” Dale said.
“We are committed to recruiting high calibre underwriters who complement our existing team and who share our service driven values. Luke is a clear example of this philosophy in practice,” he added.
Birtwistle’s appointment is among the latest changes within the company. Earlier this week, ArgoGlobal announced the hiring of Jonathan Hamilton as cargo class underwriter.
The insurer recruited Hamilton as part of the restructuring of its cargo offering to facilitate business expansion.
