Lloyd’s insurer ArgoGlobal has expanded its international marine offering with the hiring of two new underwriters.
The company has appointed David Ong as senior underwriter of marine hull and energy for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and Lee Zi Yih as marine underwriter for Asia.
Ong will report to Lina Hantas, chief underwriting officer for the MENA region, while Zi Yih will report to David Lim, head of marine at ArgoGlobal Asia.
Hantas said Ong has an “impressive reputation” in the marine market in the MENA region, based on expert underwriting and an in-depth understanding of insureds’ requirements.
“Marine represents a key growth area for our operations in MENA and David’s appointment represents a significant step forward in realising our ambitions,” Hantas said.
An eight-year expert in specialist marine insurance, Ong joins from Royal & Sun Alliance where he most recently served as assistant manager of marine hull for the Middle East and Africa. He also worked as a senior marine claims executive and as a marine loss surveyor in Singapore.
Meanwhile, Lee joins from
Allied World Assurance in Singapore where she served as marine hull underwriter and helped develop a new rating tool. She started her career in 2009 as an assistant manager of the marine broking department of
Aon Singapore.
“Lee has the drive and service focus to complement our existing expertise which will continue to build out our marine offering in Singapore,” Lim said.
