Lloyd’s insurer ArgoGlobal has strengthened its marine insurance team with the appointment of Michael Thompson as hull class underwriter.
Thompson takes up his new role immediately, bringing with him nearly 30 years of experience in the marine sector to ArgoGlobal.
He will report to head of marine Steve O’Gorman, who described Thompson as the “ideal candidate to fulfil our ambitions” in the marine hull market.
“There are clear opportunities for ArgoGlobal in the marine hull sector,” O’Gorman said. “Michael is a recognised expert in this market and has the expertise, track record and experience to realise the advantages conferred by our Group structure and international offices.”
“We will continue to strengthen our presence in the marine hull market by developing closer synergies with our international network and enhancing our specialist products to reflect clients’ needs,” O’Gorman added.
Thompson previously served as head of hull and liability underwriting at Endurance Syndicate 5151, where he was tasked with the launch and development of its marine portfolio.
He was also a senior hull and liability underwriter at
Swiss Re and an assistant marine underwriter for ACE London Syndicate 483.
