The boys in blue have put in a call to Arc Legal Assistance – but the company certainly isn’t in trouble.
On the contrary, this police call is one to celebrate because the legal insurer has been appointed to provide the first insurance-based legal expenses scheme for members of the Police Federation for Northern Ireland and 6,500 of its members.
To fit the bill, Arc Legal has expanded its scheme to include costs relating to criminal and civil legal defence, contractual disputes, personal injury claims and advice and representation at disciplinary hearings.

“Our appointment to provide an enhanced package of cover reflects our commitment to ensuring clients with specific needs are able to benefit from bespoke legal expenses packages,” said Frank O’Malley, director at Arc Legal. “This approach has enabled us to build a strong presence in the sector providing cover to over 85,000 Police Federation members in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.”
According to a release, the scheme has been developed in partnership with George Burrows, part of the Arthur J
Gallagher group.
