There is a new global head of government and policy affairs at Aegon – in the form of Michael F. Consedine.
Consedine’s arrival will see the company bring together its US and European government affairs teams under one organisation as it attempts to optimise its engagement with policymakers around the globe.
Boasting 20 years’ experience in the industry, Consedine served as the Insurance Commissioner for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania from 2011 to 2015 and was named by the US Treasury Department as a member of the Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance, charged with advising the Federal Insurance Office on domestic and international insurance policy.
Speaking about the appointment, Alex Wynaendts, CEO for the Netherlands-based insurer, outlined how Consedine’s experience would be of great benefit to the firm.
“We are delighted that Michael has assumed this new global role,” he said. “As a worldwide company we serve 30 million customers in over 20 countries, and although the environments in which we operate are very different, our approach to ensuring transparency is the same.
"We are committed to an open and interactive dialogue with those whose decisions impact our ability to deliver the trusted solutions our customers desire and require for their long-term financial security."
