AEGIS London has strengthened its professional indemnity team with the hiring of long-time
Canopius executive Jerry Hyne.
Hyne, who picks up his new role immediately, most recently served as head of professional indemnity at Canopius.
“I am pleased to be joining a syndicate with a reputation as impressive as AEGIS London,” Hyne said. “I hope my experience will add to this as we continue to build in 2017.”
Hyne has more than 30 years of underwriting experience in professional indemnity, commercial legal expenses, warranty and indemnity insurance, and legal title insurance.
His appointment follows the promotion of Toby Sawyer to the role of head of property that was announced earlier this week.
The insurance firm said the two latest appointments build on its drive for disciplined profitable growth.
“Bringing someone of Jerry’s expertise and ability into Syndicate 1225 is a reflection of our growing status within the market. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and a considerable reputation,” said AEGIS London’s active underwriter Alex Powell.
“I have no doubt he will succeed in bringing prudent, profitable business to AEGIS London as we look to build on our track record of recent years,” he added.
