Aegis London has announced the appointments of two new senior executives who will strengthen the insurer’s team in the UK capital.

The company has named Hermien Smeets-Flier as CFO while Graeme Tennyson has joined as director of risk and compliance.

Both executives will report to Aegis London CEO David Croom-Johnson. The appointments are effective immediately.

Croom-Johnson said the company will reap benefits from the two “first class additions” to the team.

“Hermien’s expertise and depth of knowledge as a CFO will be an invaluable asset to us going forward,” Croom-Johnson said.

“Her all-round experience will no doubt enable the business to fully realise our London focused strategy and consolidate our position as a leading Lloyd’s syndicate,” he added.

Croom-Johnson continued: “Graeme brings with him a considerable track record in risk and compliance, which I have no doubt will help us to deliver against our business development goals.”

Smeets-Flier joins from MS Amlin where she was CFO of syndicate 2001. Previously, Smeets-Flier spent 14 years with KPMG in various roles, including a senior management position within the audit practice.

Tennyson joins from Endurance Underwriting where she served as head of compliance. Earlier in his career, he spent over nine years at the then Financial Services Authority and held roles including head of Lloyd’s market supervision.
