Major insurer
Admiral has partnered with Newport Bus to provide travel discounts to its city-based employees.
Through the partnership between the two companies, Admiral’s employees will be able to pay for discounted passport travel cards in 12 monthly instalments from their salary, the
South Wales Argus reported.
The passport cards feature unlimited travel for one year, the report said.
"Being able to offer this initiative to our staff will mean that they save money whilst promoting environmentally friendly modes of transport, in keeping with our green objectives,” Huw Llewellyn, head of property and facilities for Admiral, was quoted as saying in the report.
“The smartcard scheme is a great way to encourage people to use local transport and to put money into the local economy.”
According to
South Wales Argus, Admiral employs more than 600 people in its offices at Gwent.
“We know that many staff at Admiral’s offices in Newport already use the bus and we hope that this partnership will see many more switching to the convenience of public transport to get to and from work and wherever else they need and want to go,” Newport Transport managing director Scott Pearson told the publication.
