Motor insurance giant
Admiral has officially confirmed that industry figure Annette Court will be the company’s next chairman.
Appointed as non-executive chairman, Court will succeed current Admiral chairman Alastair Lyons when he retires from the company board at its annual general meeting on April 26.
“It is an honour for me to become chairman of this great company with its unique culture,” Court said in a statement. “I am looking forward to working with David and building on Alastair’s legacy of successful growth.”
Admiral CEO David Stevens said that he was “very much looking forward to working alongside Annette.”
“She brings a wealth of experience both within and beyond the insurance industry and as both a leader and mentor.”
Court boasts more than 30 years of experience in the insurance and technology industries. She has been a non-executive director at Admiral for nearly five years.
The new Admiral chairman also serves as a business mentor for Merryk & Co. Ltd and a non-executive director at Jardine Lloyd Thompson.
In 2001, Court was appointed CEO of
Direct Line Group and later became a member of the Royal Bank of Scotland’s group executive committee. She led the acquisition of
Churchill Insurance, forming RBS Insurance which she headed as CEO. In 2007, she joined
Zurich and served as head of its European general insurance business.
Court is also a member of The Insurance Supper Club, a network of senior women leaders around the world who are involved in insurance. She also works with the SteetGames charity.
