According to reports, the provincial government of Ontario has received almost 550 applications for recovery assistance due to the flood that swept through the Windsor-Essex area.
The deadline for applications to the Disaster Recovery Assistance of Ontario Program was January 31.

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs confirmed with
CTV News that, to date, it has paid out $86,000 to applicants.

Under the program, the emergency expenses and repairs to replace essential property of applicants will be covered, provided the damages were caused by a natural catastrophe. Residents, small businesses, and even non-profits in the province may apply for the program.
In November, the Insurance Board of Canada revealed that the bill for insured damages following the flood is up to $108 million.
Residents of the affected areas have filed almost 6,000 home, auto, and business claims since the flooding event occurred in September.
