Markel International has appointed two new underwriters “to develop a multimedia and film and TV error and omissions offering” for the media sector.
Nicola Marshall has been named senior underwriter and Joe Wornham as underwriter. The appointments are aimed at developing Markel’s film, TV production and media business. It will be the first time the company has specifically targeted the sector in a full-service way.
Marshall has been underwriting manager since 2013 at
Tokio Marine. Previously, she was with
QBE in London. Wornham was formerly associated with
Travelers, where he has worked since 2013. He was most recently a development underwriter for
Travelers’ media and entertainment team.

“I am looking forward to working with a company that has such an international footprint,” said Marshall. “The challenge to create a market leading product and work closely with Alex and Pippa is one I am looking forward to and will relish.”
“The media industry is growing rapidly and, as a result, there’s a lot of demand in the market for a product that meets all clients’ needs,” commented Alex Clegg, who joined Markel’s personal accident, contingency and entertainment team last year. “We are delighted to be able to develop an offering that does this.”
Markel specialty and financial lines division managing director, James Hastings, said: “We are building a team with the capabilities and capacity to look after a wide range of the insurance needs of companies in the media sector. The team brings together the expertise to deliver an integrated product designed to meet the needs of brokers and insureds alike.”
