One of the giants of North American insurance has appointed a new President, effective from June 05.

Roy Gordi will take up the position at Manulife with responsibility for the firm’s global operating business having previously been the firm’s senior executive vice president and general manager of its Asia division.

He will take the helm for the company’s operations across Canada, the USA, and Asia, as well as heading up its investment operations. He will relocate from Hong Kong to Toronto as part of the move and CEO Donald Guloien is confident he will adapt quickly to the new challenge.

“Roy is an enormously capable leader, an innovator and agent of change, and is very committed to customer centricity,” Mr. Guloien said. “I am simply delighted Roy is taking on this significant role, leveraging his talent, expertise and collaborative instinct across all of our businesses, and very excited about the impact he will have on Manulife’s future.”

Gori, who joined Manulife from Citi in early 2015, outlined his personal enthusiasm for the role and his confidence in meeting the challenges ahead.

Gori has worked and lived in Sydney, Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong, and boasts an economics and finance degree from the University of New South Wales and an MBA from the University of Technology, Sydney. He is married with three children.
