With many BC residents severely affected by the wildfires, financial services companies continue to aid relief efforts.
TD Bank Group announced yesterday that it is increasing support for wildfire-affected communities. A release from the company said that TD is offering its customers options such as “immediate access to funds, deferrals on payments, relief on fees, flexible credit options where needed, increase on access card limits, and customized accommodations for commercial customers.”
For its insurance customers, TD is sending its Mobile Response Unit to assist customers with their questions and claims. The Unit will also be distributing basic supplies to those in need.

“Our hearts go out to the communities in B.C. that have been impacted by the devastating wildfires, and we are doing everything we can to be there for our employees and customers during this difficult time,” TD Canada Trust Pacific Region senior vice president Mauro Manzi said. “In addition to TD providing greater service and support, we want our employees and customers affected by the disaster to know that we’re in this together and we’re ready to support them anytime and anywhere they need.”
Wawanesa Mutual Insurance also announced yesterday that it has contributed $25,000 towards the Canadian Red Cross, to help the non-profit’s relief operations. The insurer hopes its donation enables additional support in critical areas.
“Our thoughts are with the people in British Columbia as the wildfire situation continues to unfold,” said Wawanesa vice-president of British Columbia Brenda Gibson. “We hope our donation and deployment of experienced team members will help expedite the relief that is so desperately needed during this difficult time.”
