In cooperation with Surrey RCMP, the Insurance Corporation of BC (ICBC) helped identify stolen materials and match them to their original owners after law enforcement seized the goods from suspected thieves.

Surrey RCMP’s Community Response Team had conducted two search warrants this month. The team’s efforts led to the recovery of several vehicles, bicycles, license plates, motorcycles, trailers, an ATV, garage door openers, personal documents, a hundred vehicle keys, and even power tools.

According to Vancouver Sun, two women and four men were arrested in connection to both searches. Authorities believe that the items recovered were stolen during break-and-enters. The investigation is ongoing and charges against the six have not been laid.

The officers worked with City of Surrey Bylaws and the ICBC’s Special Investigation Unit to identify and attempt to match the property with its rightful owners.

“Developing and maintaining partnerships with stakeholders is part of the Community Response Team mandate and this certainly assisted us with respect to these two problem properties,” said Surrey RCMP Community Support and Safety Officer Andy LeClair. “We will continue to work closely with our City of Surrey Bylaws partners to prevent illegal activity from happening at these properties in the future.”
