When it comes to awards, lifetime achievement means a whole lot. That’s not a year of top performance and industry recognition – it is, as the name suggests, a lifetime’s worth.
That’s why it means so much for the sponsor of this award at the
Insurance Business Canada Awards, First Insurance Funding of Canada.
Stuart Bruce, CEO, said the company was “extremely proud” to be back sponsoring the lifetime achievement award for a second-straight year.

“Our industry’s success is built on a foundation of the talented people that make up the companies in it,” he said. “It is important that these people are recognized as industry leaders and set a standard for other fellow insurance professionals to aspire to.”
And recognizing industry leaders is what the company wants to put its name to. Last year, the First Insurance-sponsored award went to Dick Hubbard,
“We were pleased to present the First Insurance Funding of Canada Award for Lifetime Achievement to Dick Hubbard of Hubbard Insurance,” Bruce explained. “Dick has embodied what the best of our industry stands for and has been sharing his wisdom, expertise and client-first approach for over 50 years.”
Hubbard, for his part, said on stage of the award last year: “They say the business of life is collecting memories, and I’ve certainly collected many memories over these past years.”
In his acceptance speech, Hubbard expressed his “great satisfaction” in seeing his sons join the family-run brokerage and watching them take on responsibility for growing the business further.
“Last year’s event was a great success,” Bruce said, “excellent venue, great turnout, and a perfect setting for industry professionals across the country to come together to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of so many great contributors to our profession.
“We highly recommend saving the date to attend the event again this year and are looking forward to enjoying the evening once again and presenting this year’s Lifetime Achievement award to a deserving member of our industry.”
