Desjardins has announced that it is taking part in this year’s La Grande Tournée – an event marking Montreal’s 375th anniversary.
As part of the city’s festivities, the insurer is helping organize and host the event called VivaCité. Participants of the event will navigate their way through an obstacle course as they collect points throughout the activity area. At the end of the course, the points collected will be converted into a donation that Desjardins will make to community youth organizations.
The company said that a total of over $37,500 will go to charity through the activities.
“Being a part of the 375th celebrations is a perfect way for Desjardins to show how it contributes to creating wealth for people and communities,” said Desjardins Strategy and Innovation Office head Martin Brunelle. “Thanks to its members, Desjardins gave back more than $20 million to the Montreal community in 2016. We should be proud of our accomplishments and together we’ll play a part in growing our city with a focus on the people, the local businesses and the organizations that make a difference.”
This year’s La Grande Tournée kicks off on May 12 and will run until September 17. A total of 19 boroughs will participate in the event.
