The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has slapped additional charges on a former Stony Plain Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer for three fraud-related offences involving an application for financial RCMP relocation benefits.
Ex-Mountie Aaron Sayler has been charged with one count of criminal harassment and mischief in relation to repeated acts of vandalism to the home of one woman, and an additional count of mischief in relation to damage done to the vehicle of a second woman. Both women had been involved in prior relationships with Sayler, said ASIRT.

Sayler was charged last year with insurance fraud for allegedly creating a false hit and run collision report which he submitted to his insurance company in October 2014 in order to obtain insurance money.
Authorities have also accused Sayler of stealing an airsoft pistol he found while searching a vehicle in March, 2015. Instead of seizing the pistol as evidence, and properly handling it as an exhibit, ASIRT said he took it for his own.
“Sayler is no longer a police officer but at the time of the [insurance fraud and theft] offences was a sworn member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police working out of the Spruce Grove/Stony Plain detachment,” said ASIRT last October.
Sayler is expected to appear in Stony Plain Provincial Court on July 19.
