One road as-yet obscure road in Ontario is in line for the dubious honour of “worst road in Ontario” once voting in the CAA’s annual Worst Roads campaign concludes.
The annual poll asks all road users, including drivers, cyclists, transit riders and pedestrians to “identify the roads they think are in most need of improvement – be it potholes, congestion, safety concerns or poor road signs.”
Voting is underway for the next three weeks at the CAA’s website, after which the association will unveil the Top Ten Worst Roads in Ontario, as well as the worst roads in seven regions across the province. The association also presents the lists of deficient roads “to local and provincial politicians in an effort to get those roads fixed.”
Generally Toronto takes many slots in the top ten, but in 2015 took only two, with Timmins having the doubtful distinction of being the municipality most represented in the top ten with a total of three positions including the top two positions.
Ottawa claims it has already fixed 30,000 potholes in January alone – double the amount in January 2015, In any event motorists and their insurers are still gritting their teeth.
