Far Out Friday: Insurance … for binge watching?!

Planning to beat the cold this weekend with hours spent on the couch bingeing through Frank Underwood’s latest misadventures on House of Cards?

If you struggle to turn off NetFlix or Stan once your favourite show drops online you are in luck, with an insurer announcing the launch of binge watching insurance.
Health insurer ahm has released a new series of adverts to promote serious injuries such as ‘too much tele watching neck’.

The ad shows a woman named Susan, lounging on the couch in a very awkward position, trying to catch-up on TV before her colleagues ruin the show with spoilers at the office.

Ad firm Clemenger BBDO, which came up with the commercial, said that the idea came about to show the mundane nature of many health insurance claims.

“For most of us, health insurance and when we choose to use it, is quite a mundane, every-day experience. It’s nothing spectacular, just modern-day scenarios we can all relate to – and scenarios we need insurance for,” creative director Evan Roberts said.

Mitigation is always better than a claim so, before you hit play on the seventh episode of Master of None, or the finale of The Americans, make sure you’re sitting comfortably.
