Lawcover Group has announced a new non-executive chair for its group of companies.
Duncan West will take on the role at the head of the Group which includes Lawcover Insurance, a wholly owned but independent subsidy of the Law Society of New South Wales which offers professional indemnity cover to law practices throughout the state and the ACT.
West has more than 25 years’ experience in the industry in Australia, the United Kingdom and India and is also the chairman of Hollard Holdings and Pacific Life Re Australia as well as holidng director positions at Avant Insurance and Hallmakr Insurance.
“I am honoured to take on this role having served on the Board for four years during Robert Dolk’s tenure in the Chair,” west said of his appointment.
“Robert made an enormous contribution to Lawcover and he is leaving the company in great shape for the future in all aspects of its management, operations and capital management.”
Dolk was appointed a director of the business in 2010 and has held the position of chair since 2012.

“After six years as a director of Lawcover and four of those in the Chair, I am delighted to welcome Duncan into the Chair as a seasoned, high calibre insurance executive and Board colleague for the last four years.”
Michael Halliday, CEO of Lawcover, welcomed West to the role and backed the move to help the business grow in future.
“Duncan has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Lawcover Board during a period of significant and positive change to the company,” Halliday said.
“He will be instrumental in building on the very substantial achievements of retiring Chair, Robert Dolk as we continue our work on behalf of the legal profession.”
