A man who survived his car being crushed by a trailer truck at the Tuas tunnel in Singapore on Wednesday said that he might have trouble claiming motor insurance for the damages sustained from the accident.
Eddie Wong, a 45-year-old service engineer, said that he is encountering some difficulties claiming insurance for his totalled car, as the trailer that collided with it was a Malaysian-registered vehicle.
“It’s very hard to claim from them. My insurers told me I must claim from my own insurance first to get back the market value of the car,” Wong told the Straits Times.

However, the accident did not discourage him from driving, as Wong said he needs to drive due to the nature of his work.
On Friday, Wong uploaded a video of the crash taken from his car’s dashboard camera. The footage shows Wong’s car entering an underpass when the trailer truck on the leftmost lane suddenly swerved to the right, hitting Wong’s car and crushing it against the underpass wall. Despite the gravity of the collision, he managed to escape with only minor cuts and scratches.
“Thank God, I’ve managed to survive this accident,” Wong wrote in a Facebook post. “And thanks to my family members and friends for their concern. Drive safe and be happy always.”
