Trust Re has announced the appointment of a new head of claims.
John Matthews will take on the role, effective January 23, following the retirement of Kuriyan Oomman at the end of 2016.
Matthews has over 30 years’ experience in the insurance and reinsurance industries having worked as a loss adjuster, risk surveyor and as part of major brokerages and international insurers.
Prior to joining the regional firm, Matthews was loss adjusting and risk survey manager at Matthews Daniel Company in the United Arab Emirates.

Kamal Tabaja, group chief operating officer of Trust Re, said that Matthews’ varied experience will be a positive for the business.
“Under his leadership, we are confident that our claims team will continue to meet the service, support and prompt turnaround times which our clients value,” Tabaja said.
Earlier this year, it was announced that the firm had upped its capital as it seeks acquisitions throughout Asia Pacific.
