Multinational insurance company
Generali has appointed Roberto Leonardi as its new regional officer for Asia. Based in Hong Kong, he will report to Frédéric de Courtois, CEO of global business lines & international.
In his new role, Leonardi will be responsible for developing and managing Generali’s life and property & casualty operations in the region. He has over 25 years’ experience in insurance, especially life and health, in various markets in Asia, Europe, and Africa.

Before being hired by Generali, Leonardi was regional chief health and marketing officer for
AXA Asia from 2014-2017, heading the insurer’s health & employment benefits, protection, marketing, digital and big data businesses.
Prior to that, he was regional head for
Munich Re, focusing on the Greater China, India, Indonesia and Japan markets.
“Rob has the track record and technical knowledge to drive our Asia businesses to the next level,” said de Courtois. “Generali has a solid geographical presence in Asia with operations in 10 markets, many of which present fast growing opportunities and where we have forged deep partnerships with distributors and customers.”
Leonardi replaces
Jack Howell, who joined
Zurich as its Asia-Pacific CEO in August, 2016.
