AXIS Accident & Health has appointed Anees Ahmad as vice president and business development manager for the Middle East and North Africa reinsurance division.
Ahmad will be based in Axis Capital’s office in the Dubai International Financial Centre and will report to Rob Smart, senior vice president for international reinsurance of AXIS Accident & Health. He will work alongside Christian Romieh, who was appointed to the same title in August, to develop and manage reinsurance in the region.
Smart commented on the appointment, saying: “I am enthusiastic about the growth of our A&H Team in Dubai, our increased reinsurance market presence in the MENA region, and the momentum behind our expansion initiative. Anees is an important addition to the team, as he brings proven experience in the region and an established track record of success.”
Having spent his entire career in medical reinsurance in Dubai, Ahmad joins AXIS from
Munich Re, where he was regional underwriter for Middle East and Africa. He obtained his MS in Economics from the University of Peshawar, Pakistan.
