AIG Singapore has appointed Scott Spaven, currently its head of client and broker engagement for Singapore and Southeast Asia, to take on an additional role as head of liabilities and financial lines for Singapore and Southeast Asia, effective December 01.

Spaven will succeed Roy Wilmoth II, who will relocate to North America after being appointed as head of multinational client servicing for that region.

In his new role, Spaven will work to bring profitable growth to AIG’s liabilities and financial lines business, as well as improve operational performance and create industry-focused client solutions. He will report to Claudia Salem, chief executive officer of AIG Singapore and head of the insurer’s Southeast Asia operations.

“I am pleased that Scott is taking on this expanded responsibility,” commented Salem on the development. “His market relationships and extensive knowledge will help drive success for AIG in Singapore and across Southeast Asia.”

Spaven has worked in the Singapore market since 2011, when he joined Willis Towers Watson as head of business development and placement. In 2013, he joined AIG Singapore as head of commercial distribution. He began his insurance career in the UK as a property and casualty underwriter before moving to broking, where he spent more than a decade managing large accounts, new business development, and placement strategy and implementation.
